Meguro Sky Garden

Meguro Sky Garden

And here we are, in Meguro again. This time I want to talk about the Meguro Sky Garden which is located near the Ikehiriohashi station (Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line) and not far from Nakameguro station (Tokyu Toyoku Line). The place is basically a roof garden constructed on a sloping roof rising from 15 to 35 meters about street level, so the more you walk the higher you get. The place is not so big, pretty narrow and sometimes a bit windy (because the height), but it’s totally worth to visit not only because the views and the fact that it’s an elevated garden (which for westerners it’s a rarity since we… [...] »

Meguro River – Enjoying Sakura

Meguro River – Enjoying Sakura

Late March ~ early April. That’s the period of time when most of the cherry trees around Japan bloom and makes the country look more beautiful and romantic than ever. In Tokyo are many the spots where to enjoy the Sakura, some of them are a good option during the day time – for its convenience to have Hanami, for example – and others are more enjoyable during the night time, because of the special illumination during the cherry blossom season. Also some of them are for free and others you need to pay, so the options are many and varied. In any case, in this article I would like… [...] »

The forgiven ghost in me – Exhibition at Otsuka

The forgiven ghost in me – Exhibition at Otsuka

Otsuka neighborhood, near Ikebukuro and linked with the JR Yamanote Line via Otsuka Station, is probably famous for its rich gastronomy, the many massage places that there is around, and the increasing number of young foreigners living there, who like to chill at Speak Easy, an international bar where foreigners and Japanese people converge and socialize. But believe or not, between all those massage adverts there is also room for art in Otsuka. Yes, I know, even if you have been living here for a while you probably didn’t know, but just 10 minutes walking from the station there is a small art gallery called Misako & Rosen. It’s not… [...] »

Tokyo Tower, a place to visit

Tokyo Tower, a place to visit

From 1958 is one of the most iconic buildings in Tokyo, a place that for many years have been the highest observatory tower in the city and also a place that has attracted many lovers from all around the world. However, since 2010 the Tokyo Tower has a strong competitor: the Tokyo Skytree. This one is much higher (634m tall compared to the 333m of Tokyo Tower), is more modern and impressive, and currently is the tallest tower in the world, displacing the Canton Tower. These series of facts are probably the reason because many tourists and visitors decide to visit the Skytree instead of the Tokyo Tower, being the… [...] »
